Dr. Carney has been a resident of the south Arlington/Mansfield area for over 25 years where he has supported and watched the local area grow from an open rural community to a thriving metropolitan city. After landing here as a teenager following his father's retirement from the U.S. Armed Forces, he graduated from Arlington Martin High School in the late 1980's.
Dr. Carney has a diversified educational background starting with earning his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering in 1993, and his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1995 from Texas A&M University.
After a 7 year engineering career, Dr. Carney decided to change his life focus and dedicated his life to the health professions by serving the community in dentistry. In 2005, Dr. Carney completed his DDS degree from the Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas A&M University Health Science Center.
After graduation, Dr. Carney served our nation's armed forces in the US Navy as an officer in the navy dental corps treating our active duty sailors and marines. He also completed an advanced dental training General Practice Residency (GPR) at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia which included over 200 hours of didactic training as well as advanced training in surgery. His final tour was with the Navy "Sea Bees" which included a deployment to the Middle East supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon completion of his military service, Dr. Carney returned to DFW where he completed his training in the specialty of periodontics, periodontal surgery, and implantology along with credentials in IV sedation.
Dr. Carney is currently a member of the American Academy of Periodontists, Southwest Society of Periodontists, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Dallas County Dental Society and the Mansfield Chamber of Commerce. In his spare time, he enjoys swimming, scuba diving, teaching at the local college, and spending time with his family.
Shannon H., RDA
Shannon is our office manager who has been in dentistry for 9 years. She epitomizes kindness and is always diplomatic and insightful. Her calming presence warms the office with a content peacefulness that sets the perfect tone for creating a sense of harmony. Organized and professional, this expert communicator keeps our schedule on track and keeps things running smoothly for our patients. Shannon coordinates with Dr. Carney’s diagnoses to finalize patients’ treatment plans, and reviews the options to assist patients with their financial plans. Although dental insurance will always remain an inexact science, Shannon’s mastery of the subject is readily apparent. It is such a blessing to enjoy the privilege of working with her every day
Taurus O, RDA
Taurus is Dr. Carney’s right hand in every respect of the word. She is the surgical assistant who is in charge of the clinic. She works very closely with Dr. Carney and Shannon to keep the clinical side running smoothly next to the administrative side. She has been a dental/surgical assistant for 17 years and takes pride in providing patient’s with highest quality of care. She was raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, but decided to be a Texan about 10 years for the cooler weather. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and spending time family and friends.
Brandy C., RN
Brandy is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and has been a practicing nurse ever since. Brandy is our staff RN who is charged with the responsibility of preparing patients for their IV sedations, and assisting the doctor in managing those patients until they are discharged. She is also a part time nurse at one of the local hospitals where she keeps her skills sharp in the day-to-day grind of the hospital ward environment. She also picks up numerous responsibilities of the office management, helping out wherever she is needed. We are certainly lucky to have her on staff.
Stephanie S., RDA
Stephanie has been a Registered Dental Assistant since 2003 who brings a wealth of restorative and surgical knowledge to our practice. Stephanie is cross-trained to manage all clinical and office responsibilities as needed. So don’t be surprised if you get a call from her. She is married with 2 children and has a cat named “Codi”. She loves going to baseball games, whether it be the Rangers or seeing her son playing little league.
